Steph Curry is one of the most outstanding basketball players of his generation, winning four titles and two MVP Awards during his tenure with the NBA’s Golden State Warriors. He will look to add to his collection of accolades when he suits up for the United States men’s basketball team when it competes in the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris, marking the first time he’ll play in an Olympic Games.
But what’s that they say about behind every man is a good woman? That’s true in Curry’s case — his wife, Ayesha. So, who is she? Well, she's not just his wife. She's also an entrepreneur in her own right with a growing roster of projects. Here’s everything you need to know about her.
How did Steph Curry meet Ayesha Curry?
The couple met while in a church youth group in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“We were just kids,” Ayesha Curry told People in 2020. “He was the cute boy at church that all of the girls were obsessed with, so I made a generalization that maybe he wasn’t for me.”
“I don’t remember the exact first day I saw her,” Steph Curry said.
“There was no wind blowing in her face with a backlight,” he joked.
The pair reconnected several years later in 2008 when Steph Curry was starring at Davidson College and went to Los Angeles for the ESPY Awards. Ayesha Curry was there, modeling and acting.
Ayesha Curry, 35, said she wasn’t interested in dating athletes, but she relented after he contacted her on Facebook. They hit Hollywood Boulevard on their first date and she figured out that he was a pretty good guy.
“He was so funny and silly, the absolute opposite of what I thought he was going to be,” she told People.
When did the Currys get married?
The couple tied the knot July 30, 2011. Ten years later, the couple renewed their vows.
“It’s everything I’ve always dreamed of but didn’t know could be possible in this way. A moment I will never forget. I love you @stephencurry30,” she captioned a photo of the moment on Instagram.
Do the Currys have any children?
The Curry family can field a team on the court. In 2012, they welcomed their first child, daughter Riley. Daughter Ryan followed in 2015 and son Canon joined the family in 2018.
On May 11, 2024, Ayesha Curry gave birth to the couple's fourth child, a son they named son Caius.
Ayesha Curry is an actor
While her husband stars on the court, she stars on the screen. Ayesha Curry has several credits to her name, including appearances on shows “10 Items or Less,” “Hannah Montana,” “Gary Unmarried,” “Ballers” and, most recently, the 2024 movie “Irish Wish,” which co-starred Lindsay Lohan.
She has also hosted “Ayesha’s Home Kitchen” on Food Network and “The Great Holiday Baking Show” on ABC. She’s even written a pair of cookbooks: “The Seasoned Life,” in 2016, and 2020’s “The Full Plate.” In addition, she has served as CoverGirl spokesperson.
Ayesha Curry also founded her own lifestyle brand
Ayesha Curry has expanded her own empire as the founder of Sweet July. The lifestyle company offers items like jewelry, candles, paper goods and home décor.
“In addition to products, Sweet July is a hub for all things lifestyle providing ideas and resources for the home and self,” the website says. “Our website and quarterly magazine are chock-full of articles addressing an array of topics including food, wellness, beauty, faith, style, female empowerment and entrepreneurship. From recipes and kitchen tips, to interviews and testimonials, we are a destination for daily inspiration.”
Ayesha Curry and Steph Curry help others
In 2019, the Currys startedthe Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation to help children in Oakland, California, where the Warriors previously played before moving to San Francisco.
“We support children’s well-being through access to nutritious meals, quality reading resources and opportunities to play and be active because everyone deserves the chance to live a happy, healthy childhood,” the website says.
“When we launched Eat. Learn. Play. in 2019, we saw the tremendous need that existed in our adopted hometown of Oakland and set out to use our platform and resources to work to unlock the full potential of the kids in our community,” the couple says on the foundation’s website.
